I think the most important change during the current academic year was the purchase of an adjacent site so that our primary department was able to expand. We have a reception department, school canteen and resorce room on the ground floor. The upper floor is occuppied by the Primary Classes.The surrounding grounds allow our children to have plenty of space to play. Our engineers built a children's playground containing swings, see-saws, and slides. This has proved very popular with the children. I am pleased to see them enjoying this feature of our school.
There is also a sports field, although small by British Independent School Standards, it is ample for our needs. Both the Senior and Junior Schools have used it to hold inter-school sports and to hold competions with other schools. Our students not only learn about winning the game but also about loosing and this important sporting outlook has enabled them to win many events and in so doing developed their self esteem.
Throughout the year we have held school gatherings to celebrate Tajik and Russian Poets. Our staff planned School discos and Pageants to celebrate cultural events from all over the world. We have been featured on Tajik television so that DIS can be a benchmark of all that is excellent in education throughout Tajikistan.
